"5 tracks that if I ever get married, I want to hear at my wedding.
I always try to keep some of my favourite records in the living room to play on a small portable deck I’ve had for years. These are five of the records I always go back to, whatever the mood, time or occasion. I know it’s a cliche but some would have to call them “guilty pleasures”. To me they are tracks that if I was to get married, I would actually like to hear at my wedding.
This is one of my favourite 80’s records. I used it in my first podcast for Sid Loves Turbo causing Thomas Von Party to fall in love with it also. Since then (not due to me obviously) there has been about 35 edits of it which is shame really as it is definitely a long lost classic.
Magazine 60 - Don Quichotte
This track represents a lot of what I love in a dance record. Weird quirky repetitive hooks and a great bass line. This was a big Trash anthem and a record I was always hoping to hear every Monday.
The Cure - The Walk
Another track that has since been edited and re issued to bits. Still one of my favourite bass lines ever.
Gina X- No GDM
I’d love to show off about how much I love Krautrock, but frankly I won’t and I don’t know enough. To a purist this is like the “wedding music” Krautrock track but it is one of the few that I always come back to. Its a great track to play out, at the start of the night or even right at the end.
Can - I Want More
My all time favourite slow jam by the master of disco.
This has huge “first dance” potential, although the full 9 minutes could get tedious, especially if nobody else joined the floor before half way through.”
Giorgio Moroder - Knights in White Satin
